Privacy

This notice covers the Thumbwise Mac app, this website and the Thumbwise waitlist.

Your layouts stay on your Mac

Your Home Screen layout and app activity stay on your Mac. Thumbwise has no account system and does not upload them to a Thumbwise server.

App usage analytics

The Thumbwise app sends anonymous product usage analytics to PostHog. This is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings with Share product usage analytics. Turning it off stops sending and resets the random ID. Delete Thumbwise Data also resets the random ID. An AI assistant connected through Thumbwise’s MCP tools can turn analytics off but cannot turn it on.

Each event includes a random installation ID, the app version and the event name. Events record when the app opens; when Read, Apply, phone data sync and optimization start or finish; your first manual edit after a Read; whether the buy prompt was shown and a license activated; and, when a step fails, which step and a fixed failure category. Some events add fixed values, such as a random ID that matches a step’s start to its result, or which optimization mode was applied.

The app never sends your Home Screen layout, app names or bundle IDs, phone activity, device identifiers, license key, email address or free text. The installation ID is not linked to your purchase, license key or email address, or to website visits.

PostHog receives your IP address with each request but is configured to discard it rather than store it. Location lookup and person profiles are off. Our analytics project is hosted in the United States. See PostHog’s privacy policy for information about its processing.

Update checks

The app contacts thumbwise.app about once a day to check for updates, and asks before installing one. Like any web request, this gives our website host the request information needed to answer it, such as your IP address.

Purchases and license checks

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and Merchant of Record, which handles payment, billing, taxes and receipts. See Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy for information about its processing.

To activate and check your license, the app sends your license key and an activation ID for this Mac to Lemon Squeezy. It checks when you activate, when the app opens and about once a day while it runs.

Website analytics

We use PostHog to count anonymous page views and download clicks. Each count includes which page was viewed and how you arrived: the website that linked you here, or a label on a link we shared.

The website doesn’t use cookies or browser storage, and it collects nothing that identifies you. It respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. PostHog discards IP addresses, and location lookup is off. Our hosting provider receives the basic request information needed to deliver the page.

The waitlist

If you joined the waitlist, we use your email address to let you know when Thumbwise is available and to send your waitlist discount code. Joining the waitlist did not sign you up for other updates.

Waitlist signups were sent directly to Brevo, our email service provider, which processes your email address and signup information to store the waitlist and deliver email. See Brevo’s privacy policy for information about its processing.

You can leave at any time. Every waitlist email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email [email protected] from the address you used to join and ask to leave the waitlist or delete your waitlist data. We will honor your opt-out and may retain a minimal suppression record so your address is not accidentally emailed again.

We delete waitlist-only contact data 90 days after the launch email, unless you separately opt into more updates. A minimal record needed to honor an opt-out may be retained.
