Thumbwise Terms

Thumbwise is made by Drake Wheeler, doing business as Thumbwise ("we", "us"). By buying a license or using Thumbwise, you agree to these Terms.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and the Merchant of Record for all orders. Lemon Squeezy handles payment, billing, taxes and receipts under its own Buyer Terms. We license Thumbwise to you under these Terms.

Your license key is in your receipt as soon as you pay. Enter it in Thumbwise to unlock Apply right away.

Compatibility and Apple dependency

Thumbwise is a native Mac app. It works with an iPhone connected to your Mac and paired through Apple's standard "Trust This Computer" prompt. It does not jailbreak your iPhone or bypass its security. It uses Apple device services and on-device data formats that Apple does not document or guarantee.

Future iOS, iPadOS or macOS updates may stop Apply, or Read and Sync, from working, temporarily or permanently.

We intend to update Thumbwise for future iOS releases when feasible, but we cannot guarantee that we will or that an update will be possible.

Supported Mac, iPhone and iOS versions are listed on the website, https://thumbwise.app. Check them before you buy.

Thumbwise is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc. Apple, iPhone, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Mac are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

Backup and Restore

Thumbwise changes your iPhone Home Screen only when you choose Apply after reviewing a preview. Before it applies a layout, Thumbwise keeps a local backup of your previous layout. It also keeps your 5 most recent Reads, and Restore lets you load one of them and apply it again.

You are responsible for keeping your own iPhone backups, for example in iCloud or on your Mac.

Your data

Your Home Screen layout and app activity stay on your Mac by default. Thumbwise has no account system and does not upload them to a Thumbwise server.

Thumbwise contacts these services:

  • Lemon Squeezy, to activate and check your license. These checks send your license key and an activation ID for this Mac.
  • Our update service at thumbwise.app, about once a day, to check for app updates. Thumbwise asks before installing an update.
  • Product usage analytics, only while "Share product usage analytics" is on in Settings. It is on by default and you can turn it off at any time. It uses a random installation ID and the app version to measure return use, which steps finish or fail and why, and whether the buy prompt was shown and a license activated. It excludes phone activity, app lists, layouts and your license key. Turning it off resets the ID. Our analytics provider (PostHog) receives your IP address with each request and is set not to store it.

License

A license is a personal license to use Thumbwise's Apply feature on up to 3 active Macs at a time. Reading, syncing, editing and optimizing layouts are free.

Activation requires an internet connection. Thumbwise checks your license in the background when it opens and about once a day while it runs. A verified license keeps working offline.

If a license is refunded, revoked or disabled, Apply is turned off on every Mac that later checks it, and stays off unless the license becomes valid again or you activate a different valid license.

You may not resell, share or publish your license key, or circumvent the license check.

Refunds

You can get a full refund of the amount you paid, including for discounted purchases, on request within 14 days of purchase. Email [email protected] (or choose Refund request in Thumbwise's Help & Support) with your purchase email and, if you have it, your order number. Telling us why is optional but helps us improve. A refund revokes your license. Restoring an earlier layout uses Apply, so Restore before you request a refund if you want your iPhone back the way it was.

If you live in the EU or UK, you may have additional consumer rights. Lemon Squeezy, as Merchant of Record, handles those rights for your purchase. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

No warranty

Thumbwise is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that Thumbwise will be error-free, uninterrupted or compatible with every device or software version.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, layouts or use. Our total liability for any claim relating to Thumbwise is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms. The current version is in the app and on the website.
